
As the diagram illustrates, the FDA does not recommend consuming fish with a mercury level above 1 ppm. Pregnant women should only eat 1 meal a week caught form local sources. Children and teenagers should eat smaller portions of the same recommended adult levels. For fish with a mercury content between .3 and 1 ppm, adults should only eat 1 meal a week. Adults may eat as much fish a week with mercury levels below .3 ppm as they like.
